Every month, we publish a curated list of application deadlines for important farm grants, loans, workshops and other related programs from our Funding Library. The following deadlines are coming up in the next 60 days.

Southern SARE Research and Education Grant: Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education

Due May 16, 2025

SARE’s Graduate Student grants provide research opportunities for Masters and PhD students enrolled full time at an accredited institution in the Southern region (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia). Funded projects must address sustainable agriculture issues of current and potential importance to the Southern region.

Massachusetts Urban Agriculture Program: Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources

Due May 19, 2025

The purpose of the MDAR Urban Agriculture Program is to advance Commonwealth goals and objectives, leverage collective resources, and support commercial projects designed to increase the production, processing, and marketing of produce grown and sold in urban centers across the Commonwealth. This funding will promote strategies to address food insecurity and to increase access of fresh, local produce in urban neighborhoods with a high concentration of low-moderate income residents.

Bird Returns Wetlands Program: The Nature Conservancy, Ducks Unlimited, California Waterfowl Foundation

Due May 26, 2025

This program provides monetary support to private landowners to enable the flood up of managed seasonal wetlands to a depth of 8-12” followed by a staged drawdown over a four-to-six-week period. Landowners can apply to enroll multiple wetland units/properties by submitting a bid for each wetland unit.

Wetlands located throughout the Delta and San Joaquin Valley are eligible for the spring program. Wetland managers are asked to meet specific conditions in their fields to provide high-quality habitat for waterbirds, specifically shallower water depths, low vegetation and crop residue, and minimal tillage.

Massachusetts Food Ventures Program (MFVP): Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources

Due May 28, 2025

The goal of the MFVP is to increase access to healthy, affordable food options and improve economic opportunities for low to moderate income communities. The program will provide funding through grants to support food ventures, sited primarily in or near communities of low or moderate income, including Gateway Cities and rural communities.

Emerging Markets Program (EMP): Foreign Agricultural Service

Due June 6, 2025

The Emerging Markets Program (EMP) helps U.S. organizations promote exports of U.S. agricultural products to countries that have—or are developing—market-oriented economies and that have the potential to be viable commercial markets.

Through the EMP, FAS provides cost-share funding for technical assistance activities such as feasibility studies, market research, sectorial assessments, orientation visits, specialized training and business workshops. The EMP supports exports of generic U.S. agricultural commodities and products, meaning projects that endorse or promote branded products or specific companies are not eligible.

Kentucky Women in Agriculture College Scholarship: Kentucky Women In Agriculture

Due June 30, 2025

In keeping with the mission to empower women in agriculture through education, involvement, and action, the Kentucky Women in Agriculture organization offers a scholarship for women who are full-time students entering their junior year in college through graduate school. Scholarship applicants must demonstrate the degree they are seeking relates to agriculture, demonstrate need, and be enrolled as a full-time student.

Minnesota New Markets Cost-Share Program: Minnesota Department of Agriculture

Due July 9, 2025

The AGRI New Markets Cost-Share Program can help your Minnesota farm or branded food, beverage, or pet food company take advantage of market opportunities through E-commerce, digital and e-mail marketing, Business-to-Business (B2B) tradeshows (virtual and in-person), and store demos.

Northern New York Agricultural Development Small Grants Program (NNYADP-SGP): NY Department of Agriculture and Markets

Opens June 17, 2025

This program funds on-farm research and technical assistance projects in NY’s 6 northernmost counties: Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence, with benefits for farmers in the region and statewide. Funding for the farmer-driven Northern New York Agricultural Development Program (NNYADP) is supported by the New York State Legislature and is administered through the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.

Delta Regional Food Business Center (RFBC): U.S. Department of Agriculture

Opens July 1, 2025

The USDA Delta Regional Food Business Center is dedicated to enhancing the resilience, diversity, and competitiveness of our local food system.
