After receiving the completed application, guarantor form, and both ID-Pal verifications, an HFLS Loan Officer will contact you to request any missing information and schedule a 15-minute loan interview by phone. 
During the interview, the Loan Officer will ask any questions they have about your application, explain the loan closing process and loan terms, and answer any questions you have.
Due to the high volume of applications, we ask that you do NOT contact HFLS about the status of your application. HFLS reviews complete applications only in the order in which they are received. If you have not heard from a Loan Officer, it is because one of the steps above is not complete or because HFLS is processing applications that were completed before yours.

MARBIDCO’s MUACLIG program addresses the finance needs of urban farmers. With the support of Farm Credit, MARBIDCO provides grant funds&#x2004;to incentivize the urban farmer to try to obtain commercial financing.


This grant is designed to provide an incentive for beginning urban farmers to seek commercial lender financing for the development of their urban agricultural enterprises, including the purchase of a farm property in an eligible urban area. Applicants must be Beginning Urban Farmers, which are defined as being farmers (either individuals or incorporated businesses) with the principal operator(s) having:
- 10 or fewer years of commercial farming experience – either in a for-profit or not-for-profit setting or having limited personal or business financial resources (net worth less than $300,000);
- A commercial food/fiber growing operation located in an urban area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau and ​any incorporated municipality recognized by the State of Maryland.
Eligible business activities include the purchase of:
- Real estate
- Agricultural inputs and supplies such as seeds, fertilizer, compost, and 
- baskets.
- Farm tools and equipment.
- Greenhouses, high tunnels, refrigeration, and irrigation systems; and
- Hired labor (at no more than 20% of the total eligible project cost).

Maximum Grant Amount: $15,000 for equipment and working capital and $35,000 for real property, but no more than 25% of the project's total cost. In addition, the grant amount can be no more than 33% of the approved commercial loan for this project. Minimum Grant Amount: $1,000. The Minnesota State Legislature approved $1 million for fiscal year 2025 Down Payment Assistance Grants to Minnesota farmers earning less than $250,000 per year in gross agricultural sales. Applications will remain valid for purchases closing within six months after grant approval or until June 30, 2025, whichever is sooner.
The RFA expects to award approximately 66 grants in this funding cycle, dependent on size of grant requests. The RFA will award these grants using a random lottery process, with preference given to emerging farmers. If you are not an emerging farmer, you may still apply. Applications will be accepted from July 1 to July 31, 2023. The RFA will make award decisions in early to mid-August.

The UIE emphasizes activities on several segments of the value chain, including production, harvesting, transportation aggregation, packaging, distribution, and marketing needs.


The UIE program seeks applications that address all of the following:

- Explain the magnitude of the most urgent and critical needs or problems for urban, indoor, or emerging agriculture and how they will be addressed in the grant;

- Focus on opportunities to develop and strengthen:

    - income or employment, 

    - enhanced quality of life and access to safe nutritious food for urban and Native American communities,

    - estimated or actual economic return for UIE food production systems, 

    - private industry investment, 

    - site selection and reduce barriers to land access;

The purpose of the Systems Builder Community-Based Block Grant is to increase staff capacity and provide pass through funding for Community-Based Organizations (CBO’s) with grassroots involvement in urban and regional food systems planning. Eligible CBO’s may apply for awards from $200,000 - $800,000 in CDFA funding to engage and administer subawards to urban agriculture stakeholders in their region. Track 1 funded Organizations may utilize between $5,000-$60,000 of the award towards eligible urban agriculture work being done internally. Subawards to external stakeholders will range from $5,000 to $60,000. At least one CBO within each urban region of California will receive an award, and at least one CBO with statewide reach will receive funding. CDFA aims to distribute awards geographically throughout California’s urban areas to the extent possible.

- Track 2 Urban Agriculture Practitioner Grant

Eligible grant projects must directly support the goals of promoting urban agriculture youth education or urban agriculture community development. Projects must be located in or serve communities that meet one of the following criteria:
- Cities with a population over 5,000, or
- Located within the boundaries of federally recognized Tribal land and serving Tribal community members, regardless of population size.

- Eligible grant expenses include but aren't limited to the purchase and installation of equipment; capital expenditures (costs incurred to make physical improvements to or construct a facility); personnel (staff/contractor) time; transportation costs; and translation costs.

The FY26 application period is closed (the application submission deadline was September 15, 2025). Grantees must register as a vendor with the State of Missouri via the MOVERS web portal and reach "Approved" status by December 1, 2025. The Reimbursement Request Form deadline is March 31, 2026. Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for a grant award:
1. The applicant must be registered to do business in Missouri and in Good Standing with the Secretary of State, if applicable;
2. The applicant must complete and submit Form 943 to obtain a tax clearance certificate (valid for 90 days) from the Missouri Department of Revenue for each owner and the business;
3. The applicant must not employ illegal workers and must provide proof of enrollment in E-Verify; and
4. Prior to award reimbursement, the applicant must register as a vendor with the State of Missouri through the MissouriBUYS web portal.

The third round of the Urban Farms and Community Gardens Grant Program offers **$2.5 million** in funding to support the development and enhancement of urban farms, school gardens, and community gardens statewide.


Funding through the Urban Farms and Community Gardens Grant Program will help offset costs associated with projects that focus on food production, food safety, and food distribution, while creating a lasting impact on local food resiliency.
