Increased Processing Capacity and Efficiency for Beef (IPCE)
South Carolina Department of Agriculture
Closed November 6, 2023
To ensure food security for South Carolina, the Increased Processing Capacity and Efficiency (IPCE) for Beef initiative addresses supply chain vulnerabilities identified by meat shortages during 2020 and helps assist future disruptions among the food supply chain. The program supports the South Carolina livestock industry by increasing the efficiency and capacity of beef processing and further processing facilities. Project categories can include equipment and infrastructure (including facility expansion) capacity enhancement, and workforce development. Awards were made as pass-through reimbursement grants in which the county where the project is located acts as the Grant Applicant and the processor as the Grant Recipient. Grant Recipients provide matching funds of $1.00 from non-grant sources for every $2.00 provided by the grant. Total grant award across the program was $2,288,588.00. The application period for this grant has closed.
Eligibility
Proposals must be for processing facilities; growing operations are not eligible. Grants are made to county governments as pass-through reimbursement grants, with the processor as the Grant Recipient, and require matching funds of $1 for every $2 of grant.
