RAFI-USA Disaster Relief and Resilience Grants

Since the 1990s, RAFI-USA has partnered with different organizations to distribute emergency grants for disaster relief to assist farmers during crises. These grants help small farmers in the Southeast U.S. and Caribbean recover from the immediate impacts of extreme weather events (such as hurricanes and drought) and economic hardship, and stay afloat. Grants are often distributed in partnership with other organizations, such as Farm Aid.

Emergency grants are for small farmers affected by specific disaster events in RAFI's service region (Southeast U.S. and the Caribbean).

Emergency grants are dependent on funding and available in response to specific disaster events rather than through regular application cycles. As a historical example, RAFI distributed $25,000 in emergency household grants to Southeast farmers after Hurricanes Florence and Michael in 2018.
