Pays 80-85% to repower (replace the engine in) an existing off-road self-propelled diesel vehicle such as a tractor, backhoe or excavator with a cleaner Tier 2-4 engine. Not ag-specific; ag tractors are also served by the (suspended) Tractor Replacement Program, so this is currently the live route for farm equipment repowers.
Eligibility
Existing diesel engine >25 HP providing motive power for a self-propelled off-road vehicle; operating condition and operated in CA 12+ months; 75% of annual hours in CA and 50% within SJVAPCD; compliant with In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation if applicable.
Terms
80-85% of cost; not a rebate; contract required before purchase.
Published amounts: 'Tier 2 Repower 80%; Tier 3, Interim Tier 4 or Tier 4 Repowers 85%' of cost.
