NYSERDA offers technical assistance to identify energy efficiency measures for eligible farms and on-farm producers, including but not limited to: dairies, orchards, greenhouses, vegetables, vineyards, grain dryers, and poultry/egg. NYSERDA will assign Flexible Technical Assistance (FlexTech) Program Consultants to perform energy audits for eligible farms.
Eligibility
Farms and on-farm producers in New York State — including dairies, orchards, greenhouses, vegetable growers, vineyards, grain dryers and poultry/egg farms. The farm must be a customer of a New York State investor-owned electric utility and pay the System Benefits Charge (SBC) / NYSERDA Clean Energy Fund on its electric bill (Central Hudson, Con Edison, National Grid, NYSEG, Orange & Rockland, or RG&E). Check a recent bill for an "SBC" or "NYSERDA Clean Energy Fund" line.

The audit is provided at no cost to eligible farms: NYSERDA pays the FlexTech consultant. The deliverable is a detailed energy audit report with actionable, farm-specific recommendations; most reports meet the ANSI/ASABE S612 standard. The audit does not itself fund upgrades — it produces the list of measures a farm can then take to utility, state and federal incentive programs (NYSERDA links a fact sheet of those programs).
Application Instructions
Complete the online application (Agriculture and Green Jobs – Green New York Energy Study Application; select Market Sector = Farm). NYSERDA assigns a Flexible Technical Assistance (FlexTech) consultant to perform the audit and deliver the report. Questions: 888-338-0089 (Energy Study Coordinator) or 1-866-NYSERDA.
