The objective of the New York State Farm-to-School Competitive Grants Program is to increase schools' purchase of New York farm products by building relationships between schools and New York farm product suppliers. Secondary goals of the program include increasing agricultural education opportunities for students, improving nutrition and exposing students to new, local, culinary experiences.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include K-12 School Food Authorities receiving National School Lunch Program funds; not-for-profit K-12 schools not participating in the National School Lunch Program but still operating a school food program; and charter schools.

A total of $1,500,000 is available, with $450,000 set aside for first-time recipients (unused first-time funds may be rolled over). Grant awards range from $50,000 to $150,000. Applicants may apply for only one grant per funding period.
Application Instructions
The 2026 RFP (#0378) was released December 11, 2025, with a non-mandatory informational workshop on January 7, 2026. Applications were due March 12, 2026 at 3:00 pm and had to be submitted via the Statewide Financial System (SFS); the Grant Opportunity ID is AGM-FTS26. Faxed, mailed, or e-mailed applications were not accepted. Grant awards were announced in July 2026.
