Conservation Plan Requirements
Beginning in 2023, each application or proposal submitted for funding consideration through the Farmland Protection Implementation Grants (FPIG) program must contain an Agricultural Environmental Management (AEM) or Equivalent Landowner Participation Verification Form.  If that application or proposal is awarded, the participating landowner(s) will receive a Notification to All Participating Landowners in Any Agricultural Conservation Easement Project Receiving a Farmland Protection Implementation Grant (FPIG) at the same time that the Department provides award notification to the entity that submitted that application/proposal. When the awarded entity submits a complete Project File (as required by the contract awarded to that entity) to the Department for review/approval, an additional required document shall also be included: Status of Conservation Plan Certification Form.

- You are not required to complete the application process in a single sitting. The form enables you to save your progress and resume at a later time or date from where you left off. It's important to note that none of your saved responses are final until you officially submit your application, allowing you to make changes or edits as needed.

Prior to receiving funding, successful applicants must sign a grant agreement with the FFGF indicating their intent to complete the proposed project and authorizing FFGF to monitor the project’s progress. The grant agreement will include provisions (terms and conditions) set by the State of New York as well as any program-specific requirements. Grantees will be subject to periodic reviews to assess overall performance and progress on completing project activities against grant timelines and period of performance. If grantees are deemed to be making insufficient progress towards the terms of the project, grant agreements may be terminated. Prior to commencement of work and release of any payments, grantee will be required to submit: 
1. Certificate of Insurance consistent with the requirements set forth in Appendix A of the grant agreement.
2. A current IRS Form W-9 (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification), signed within the past six months.
3. A Certificate of Status, aka Certificate of Good Standing in NYS.
4. Relevant NYSDEC permits for shellfish culture or hatchery operation.
5. Proof of primary driver valid license (CDL, if required), title and registration, and active insurance required as part of claim for reimbursement.

NYS Aquaculture Infrastructure Grant – Round 2

- Nonprofit organizations that are currently generating revenue through their aquaculture-related activities (i.e. seed to industry or finished product to buyers).

Municipal Governments and Educational Institutions are not eligible to apply.

All applicant types must produce aquaculture products in New York State and must comply with all Federal and New York State laws and regulations. Group applications may be accepted but must designate a lead business (“prime sub-awardee”) who manages and
signs the sub-award agreement and is responsible for coordinating and representing multiple eligible benefitting
aquaculture producers and growers. The lead organization is responsible for all contractual management and reporting, including collecting documents and data from the eligible benefitting aquaculture producers and growers.

Project approaches must expand, improve, or install aquaculture equipment and supplies that support the
viability and scaling of aquaculture businesses operating on Long Island, NY. 

Funding is available for projects related to the following activities:
- Expansion of aquaculture production, aggregation, processing, and distribution capabilities
- Operational efficiency improvements
- Increasing cold storage capacity
- Improving food safety standards for processing facilities
- Expanding cold distribution volume and/or mileage radius
- Other purposes deemed necessary to further opportunities for aquaculture producers and hatcheries to grow, store, and distribute their products.

No match is required for this grant unless an applicant requests funding for a vehicle equipped with cold storage capacity. 
Vehicles are required to have a 1:1 match, which means 50% funded by the applicant. 

Round 2 funding includes infrastructure upgrades such as construction, renovation, and installed fixtures (e.g., walk-in cooler, ice machine). 

Round 1 awardees may apply to Round 2.

The DPO Advisory Board has issued a Request for Applications for dairy and research promotion projects, as part of its $15.5 million checkoff fund. The invitation solicits proposals for projects that market, promote and research New York-produced fluid milk and dairy products with the goal of expanding the types of dairy products available and increasing consumer demand for and consumption of New York’s many dairy products.

Funding for the farmer-driven Northern New York Agricultural Development Program (NNYADP) is supported by the New York State Legislature and is administered through the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. The program funds on-farm research and technical assistance projects in NY’s 6 northernmost counties: Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence, with benefits for farmers in the region and statewide.



Eligible Projects
On-farm research and technical assistance projects in NY’s 6 northernmost counties: Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence benefit farmers in the region and statewide.
Each project MUST contain research as well as education and/or technical assistance components. Joint projects among CALS researchers, CCE educators, and other private/public sector collaborators in the region are very strongly encouraged.
Projects should include one or more research sites in the six-county NNY region. Research and demonstration sites can include Miner Institute, the Willsboro Research Farm, other agriculture research farm facilities, and/or other operating farms across the NNY region. The latter are strongly encouraged wherever possible for research and/or demonstration.
The outreach component MUST be designed to reach all six NNY counties. Any events, webinars, presentations, etc. associated with outreach for the project must include acknowledgement of the support of the NNYADP. The NNYADP logo will be made available for use.

- Extensive budget detail is not required, but a breakdown in broad categories must be provided. See proposal template for accepted budget categories.
- For projects involving CALS/CCE, budgets should clearly reflect funds to cover expenses incurred by CCE Associations as a result of their participation in the research and/or extension component of the project. Commitments from CCE educators as well as agreement on funding to support their work must be obtained prior to submission of the proposal. Similar attention should be given to detailing the proposed expenses of all collaborators.
- Requests for funds associated with personnel will need clear and compelling justification. Only that portion of personnel time allocated strictly to the NNYADP project will be considered for support.
- Travel funds to support work in NNY are eligible. Funds for travel to areas outside NNY will not be awarded without very strong justification.
