KAFC Large/Food Animal Veterinary Loan Program (LFAVLP) (LFAVLP)

A Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corporation participation loan for licensed Kentucky veterinarians who want to build, expand, equip or buy into a practice serving large and food animal producers. KAFC lends up to 50% of project costs, to a maximum of $250,000, at a fixed 2% through a participating Kentucky lender. Existing student debt can count as match. Priority goes to vets serving underserved areas.

• Aggregate KAFC balance limit of $250,000 across programs, excluding APLP.

• 'Priority consideration will be given to borrowers who will be providing veterinary care to underserved areas'.

• A business plan is required, except for requests under $50,000, which need an explanation of how the asset will help serve producers.

2% fixed on the KAFC portion, with lender servicing up to 0.75%. Maximum term 15 years or useful life; real estate may amortize over 25 years with a 15-year balloon. Secured by fixed assets and a personal guarantee.

Published amounts: Guidelines (LAVLP Revised: November 2025): 'KAFC will loan up to 50% of the project costs, not to exceed $250,000.' Existing student loans can count as match, allowing up to 100% of project cost. KAFC portion fixed at 2% a.p.r. plus lender servicing up to 0.75%.
