Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP) — Wyoming

Wyoming's Specialty Crop Program (Specialty Crop Block Grant Program / SCBGP), administered by the Wyoming Department of Agriculture with USDA Agricultural Marketing Service funds, awards competitive grants that enhance the competitiveness of Wyoming specialty crops by increasing the production and consumption of fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, horticulture, and floriculture.

Wyoming specialty crop stakeholders proposing eligible specialty crop projects. Projects considered in the 2027 RFP must start no earlier than January 1, 2028 and end no later than September 1, 2030.

Award size (WDA Specialty Crop Block Grant manual). "Competitive grant awards will be considered up to a maximum of $24,500 for specialty crop projects lasting one year. In addition, we will entertain projects up to $100,000 lasting two to three years that can justify larger impacts and the need" for a longer term. The budget section restates it: "Funding amount requested is limited to a minimum of $10,000 and a maximum of $24,500 for one-year proposals and up to $100,000 for proposal lasting two to three years." Requests below $10,000 or above the applicable maximum are rejected — "Proposals requesting more than the maximum award amount" are listed as ineligible.

Statewide pool. "This year, the WDA is estimated to receive up to $340,000 from the USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant Program" (contingent on the federal appropriation). That is the whole-state allocation, not an award.

Match. No match is required. If an applicant chooses to contribute matching funds, "the expenses to be covered with matching funds must be described separately using Appendix C 'Grant Match Template' only" and must not appear in the project budget.

Cost restrictions. Capital expenditures for general-purpose equipment, buildings and land are unallowable. Special-purpose equipment with a unit cost of $10,000 or more requires prior WDA approval. Processed products must constitute greater than 50% of the specialty crop by weight/volume to qualify.

Figures above come from the most recently posted grant manual, whose cover reads "Grant Application Manual — Fiscal Year 2026 Funding Cycle" with a March 9, 2026 proposal due date (only the PDF filename says 2025). The current RFP is closed and the next opens January 2027, so amounts could change.
