South Florida Cooperative Funding Program

South Florida Water Management District

Annual cost-share from the South Florida Water Management District for alternative water supply and water conservation projects in its 16-county area. The water conservation component (formerly WaterSIP) funds hardware and technology that save water, including agricultural irrigation retrofits; citrus groves, nurseries and farms have received awards directly. Most alternative water supply money goes to utilities and local governments.

Eligibility

  • Projects within the District's 16-county service area

  • Water conservation: projects that use hardware and/or technology to implement water conservation; the District encourages industrial, commercial, institutional and agricultural water users, as well as homeowners and condominium associations, to apply

  • Alternative water supply: local governments, public and private water providers and other entities; past eligible projects include tailwater recovery

  • Local governments and municipalities must have an approved irrigation ordinance (Chapter 40E-24, F.A.C.)
