South Dakota Working Wetland and Grassland Program

GFP cost-shares conservation practices on South Dakota working grasslands. These include perimeter and cross fence, woven-wire replacement in pronghorn range, water development (pipelines, tanks, rural water hook-ups, wells, solar pumps), stock/wildlife impoundments, wetland restorations and creations, grassland establishment, riparian pastures and wildlife-friendly fence. Grazing infrastructure is typically 50% cost-share with project maximums, and wetland restorations are 100% of approved invoices.

• Guide: 'All projects are subject to approval by a GFP private lands habitat biologist. Cooperators must allow some amount of reasonable public hunting.'

Guide: GFP does not currently cost-share virtual fence (partners may, typically 50%).

Published amounts: Guide p.8: grazing infrastructure 'Cost share rates are typically 50% with project maximums.' Wetland restorations: '100% of approved invoices to restore or enhance wetland basins through ditch plug installation and/or drain tile breakage or removal.'
