The project would use its regional extension centers and&#x2004;county extension agents to recruit small scale, limited resource and underserved farmers in South Carolina interested in adopting and implementing best management practices to grow climate-smart commodities, such as leafy greens and cover crops. The recruited farmers would be incentivized to adopt emission reduction, climate-smart and conservation agricultural practices to maximize soil health, and carbon sequestration.


The project would establish local and regionally based small farmer cooperative to market the climate-smart cash crop commodities.
