The USDA plans to reform the program into the Advancing Markets for Producers (AMP) initiative. The Michigan Climate Smart Farms Program empowers and certifies farms in adopting climate-smart practices that enhance soil health, sequester carbon, reduce emissions, and adapt to the challenges of climate change.


The Michigan Climate Smart Farm Project (MCSFP) is developing a climate-smart farm verification program for the state. The program is focused on assisting small and diversified farms, initially in Washtenaw, Monroe, Wayne, and Lenawee Counties.  

This pilot project in southeastern Michigan will inform the development of a statewide program in future years.

A final report on the CSFV system and findings will be presented to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) with the goal of becoming part of the MAEAP program or a stand-alone program.
