The program is currently at capacity; join the waitlist through the form linked from the RegenConnect FAQ on the program page.

When enrollment is open, key deadlines run on an annual cycle: enrollment ends August 30 (or once acreage goals are met), a winter cover crop must be planted by February 28, the measurement phase completes by August 30, and payment is remitted in one installment no later than December 31.

Questions go to the RegenConnect team, by email or phone.

Cargill RegenConnect

Cargill RegenConnect pays farmers per acre for adopting soil-health practices — cover crops, reduced tillage, or no tillage — while connecting them with companies that value regenerative agriculture in Cargill's supply chain. The program is built around a deliberately simple structure: a one-year contract, per-acre payment based on enrolled practices, a self-service online platform, and one-on-one support from a Cargill Conservation Agronomist.

The one-year term is the shortest commitment among the major corporate carbon programs, making RegenConnect a low-risk way to try practice changes without a multi-decade contract. Cargill reported surpassing one million enrolled acres for the 2025 US planting season.

As of August 2026, the program is at capacity — Cargill is taking waitlist submissions rather than open enrollment.

- Enrolled growers must continue or expand newly adopted regenerative practices: cover crops, reduced tillage, or no tillage.
- One of the following crops must be harvested in the upcoming crop year: corn, soybeans, or wheat.
- Fields in perennial forage (alfalfa, grass pasture, hay) in the upcoming crop year are not eligible.
- The most recent published state list (2023 expansion) covers 24 states: North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina.

A contract to sell an environmental outcome the operation produces - sequestered carbon, a water-quality credit, a habitat credit - to a buyer, rather than receiving an award. Payment is typically per unit (per acre or per ton CO2e) over a multi-year term and contingent on verification, so records using this instrument carry the payment.* and contract.* fields rather than award.min/award.max. Covers both credit-generating programs, where credits are sold to outside buyers, and supply-chain insetting programs, where a company the operation already sells to pays for the practice.

How payment works. Payment is per acre, based on enrolled practices, remitted in a single installment no later than December 31; total compensation is determined by practices completed across enrolled acres. Cargill does not publish current per-acre rates.

Contract term. A simple one-year contract, re-enrollable each season.

Stacking. Participation in any other program that generates, quantifies, models, measures or reports — and takes legal ownership of — any environmental outcomes on enrolled fields is not allowed.

Sign a contract to sell cotton bales to Cargill, then work with a Cargill rep to enter cover crop, tillage and production data; register via the Regrow link on the page (app.regrow.ag/mrv/register?program_code=h6636s).

Deadline text on the page: Page: "Enrollment begins in May 2025." and "Sign a contract before December 1 to sell cotton bales to Cargill." 2025 flyer: "Sign a contract to sell cotton bales to Cargill between May 1 and December 01, 2025." No 2026 crop-year dates published.

Cargill pays cotton growers a premium per pound for cotton grown with cover crops and reduced tillage and sold to Cargill. Growers sign a one-year contract to sell bales to Cargill and enter practice and production data with a Cargill rep on the Regrow platform. The premium can be stacked with other programs such as Better Cotton or the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol, as long as the cotton is sold to Cargill.

- Grow cotton in an eligible state (web page FAQ: AL, AR, GA, KS, LA, MS, MO, OK, TN, FL, SC, NC, VA, TX; 2025 flyer also lists KY)
- "Growers must have implemented regenerative agriculture practices such as cover crops, no-till or reduced-till since Fall 2024 to qualify for the program."
- Cotton must be contracted, produced and delivered to Cargill

A payment that requires some percentage of matching contributions by the recipient.

Cost Share

One-crop-year contract; premium per pound of cotton contracted and produced on land with regenerative practices; verification through Regrow MRV (in-field data, remote sensing, modeling); BCI/Trust Protocol participants still eligible but must sell to Cargill.

Published amounts: "Receive a premium per pound of cotton contracted and produced using regenerative practices (cover cropping plus reduced tillage)." Premium amount not published.
