Michigan Good Food Fund Seed Awards

Annual seed grants from the Michigan Good Food Fund Stakeholder Board help Michigan food and farm businesses grow or get ready for financing. The RFP asks for applications from Michigan-based growers, aggregators and distributors, infrastructure, value-added producers, food service, and grocery or retail businesses. It plans 10–15 grants of $5,000–$20,000. The 2026 round ran from September 7 to September 28, 2026. The program has run every year since 2023.

• Michigan-based business (RFP: 'Michigan Good Food Fund is seeking Michigan-based growers, aggregators/distribution, infrastructure, products/value added, food service and grocery/retail businesses')

• Eligible types include farms ('Businesses that grow crops or raise livestock for sale to consumers, retailers, institutions, processors or other markets') and specialty crop producers, food hubs, packaged food producers, food manufacturers, restaurants, incubator kitchens, grocery stores and markets

• 'BIPOC and women-owned businesses are highly encouraged to apply.'

Grant, up to $20,000. Funds are meant to help the business grow, prepare for additional financing and/or meet business goals.

Published amounts: Michigan Good Food Fund anticipates providing 10-15 seed grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000.

Apply through the online application linked from the RFP during the open window (2026 round: by Monday, September 28, 2026, 5:00 PM EDT). Describe the business, its current status, owner names and demographics, the amount requested (up to $20,000), and the intended use of funds.
