Connected Ag Project

Notice: _On April 14, 2025, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced the cancellation of the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities (PCSC). The USDA plans to reform the program into the Advancing Markets for Producers (AMP) initiative. Contact your local USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) for more information on how to apply to the AMP initiative. _

The Connected Ag Project, run by Farm Journal's Trust In Food initiative, helps producers turn farm data into new market opportunities. Enrolled producers are eligible for help with digital information systems, plus technical and financial support for conservation practices on the farm. The project is funded under a USDA agreement that runs through September 9, 2027.

Eligible growers include:

• Cattle Ranchers/Livestock Producers

• Specialty Crop Growers

• Row Crop Farmers

• Small and Urban Farmers

Anyone in these categories who are also one of the following:

• Climate-smart early adopters who want to expand regenerative practices

• Producers looking for natural resource solutions for soil health, water availability, forage enhancement, and other concerns you’re regularly managing on your farm 

• Historically Underserved producers: Enhanced incentives are available for women, Latinx, Black, American-Indian, Asian-American, Pacific Islander, veterans, small-farm operators, beginning farmers and specialty crop producers

• Producers in 31 states in any production system of all sizes, including row crops, specialty crops, livestock, and small and urban farms

No payment rate, per-farm cap or cost-share percentage is published. Enrolled producers can receive technical and financial support for conservation practices. Practices the project names include cover crops, wetlands restoration, virtual fencing, temporary livestock fencing, biological soil amendments, prairie restoration, nutrient management, manure management, livestock genetic improvement, irrigation management, grazing and rangeland management, fertilizer reduction, feed management, enhanced efficiency fertilizer and biochar.
