Irrigation System Conversion Grant Program

The Irrigation System Conversion Grant Program helps Delaware Electric Cooperative (DEC) members convert irrigation pumps from diesel to electric. The grant covers 30% of the total non-utility cost of the conversion. This Cooperative program is funded by the State of Delaware's Energy Efficiency Investment Fund.

The grant covers 30% of the total non-utility cost of converting an irrigation pump from diesel to electric. Covered costs include parts and labor for the electric motor and starter installation, removal of the existing gear head and components, and electrician costs.

After installation, send Kevin Yingling at DEC your award notice, the paid installer invoice, and evidence the diesel engine was scrapped (before and after pictures and a scrap yard receipt), or a signed Low or No-Use Engine Exemption Form. Grant payments are made through the State of Delaware, and a complete W-9 must be submitted online.

Apply in two parts. Part 1 is the DEC Irrigation System Grant Program contract; DEC approval of that utility-funded grant is required before you can apply for the non-utility grant.

Return Part 1 (the DEC grant contract) and Part 2 of the application, with attachments, to Kevin Yingling at Delaware Electric Cooperative. Include a copy of the approved DEC irrigation grant contract, the installer's quote for the electric conversion, the previous 12 months of fuel usage data (gallons and cost), and a copy of your existing well allocation permit. Incomplete applications are returned.

The program has limited funds and ends when program funding runs out.
