Commodities and Practices to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Pacific Island Agriculture and Forestry Systems

University of Guam,
U.S. Department of Agriculture

This project plans to market climate-smart commodities and achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions in Pacific Island agriculture and forestry systems while improving affordable food and nutrition security of disadvantaged, at-risk, island communities. Partners plan to employ an inter-disciplinary, culturally sensitive approach when working with local farmers and forestry managers.

Technical workshops are planned to showcase various climate-smart practices and underserved producers and landowners are planned to receive stipends for participating in the project. Partners plan to conduct market research to better understand emerging and untapped markets and customer’s willingness to pay (WTP) for climate-smart commodities.
